Virtual Training: The Future of Fitness.

Exploring the Benefits and Advantages of Online Workouts.

Welcome to the era of virtual fitness! Is it too late to start talking about it? We all remember the desperate times of COVID-19 and the ways the pandemic forced us to explore businesses we could venture into without leaving home. Well, it certainly opened the path to one of the most influential and revolutionary trends in the fitness industry. Working out from home was known to many people before COVID-19, but the pandemic gave fitness enthusiasts and coaches more options to connect with their community. Since then, virtual workouts have become increasingly popular and conveniently accessible to people.

I was a very new fitness trainer in 2020 and 2021 when all of this had just started. As I was looking for ways to connect with people and offer them fitness training, I completely believe COVID gave me that platform in so many ways. Now, as technology continues to evolve and better platforms are available in the virtual training world, here are my top 5 benefits that I can confidently talk about when it comes to having a virtual personal trainer:

  1. Convenience: This was one of the main advantages I found with virtual/online coaching. Being able to train in the comfort of our own homes without worrying about a gym membership was so handy for people who did not have a fixed schedule, or did not have a good fitness center at their convenience, or simply those who found it difficult in the past to stay committed to training in a physical gym space. It’s 2024 already, and I still see a lot of people reaching out for the very same reasons.
  2. Variety: I, as a personal trainer, have become more versatile in my coaching style than I could have ever been if the pandemic had not hit. I can now help you meet your goals without even needing a single piece of equipment. All that someone needs here are the right intentions, and half of the battle is already won. A wide range of exercises can be done when training online, which includes but is not limited to yoga, HIIT, mat Pilates, boxing, and functional training. It also forced me to stay up to date with my knowledge and kept me skilling up to match the demands. This sounds more like a win-win situation to me, as both myself and my clients get the desired results and outcomes through the online coaching space.
  3. Accessibility: With the new age of technology, everyone has internet access, a mobile phone, or a laptop, making it a whole lot easier for people to train with an online coach. People who travel frequently have found virtual coaching to be a lifesaver as they no longer have to compromise on their health while they work their jobs, no matter what country or region.
  4. Cost-effectiveness: Although I believe that virtual training is equally challenging and demanding as one-on-one coaching, if the knowledge is imparted more smartly, using all the modern apps and other platforms that are now available, it can be cost-effective at the consumer level. As a personal trainer, I would recommend investing in some good business management portals, applications, etc., which are user-friendly. Now, if looked at from the consumer point of view, having a subscription to a workout app can be quite budget-friendly, and it helps massively in tracking goals and keeping them accountable. Now, results are always derived, as I always say, through mindset and intentions, which can be pushed through face-to-face coaching. But if you are someone who is self-driven and is looking for cost-effective ways of getting a fitness coach, virtual training is a game for you.
  5. Community support: This benefit comes again from my personal experience. When I came to Melbourne, my first step was to look out for people who are not just fitness-driven but share the same mindset, and online platforms like ‘Meetup’ (Those who don’t know what Meetup is, google it) helped me in finding those people. Similarly, there are plenty of online platforms that provide the same opportunity where people can train with people who inspire and drive them positively without needing to meet face-to-face.

As a person with fitness goals, having the right trainer is highly important, but it is equally important to be surrounded by a bunch of people who share the same mindset. So, all I can say in conclusion is that online personal training is quite flexible, convenient, and enjoyable further allowing you to prioritize all the important things in your life. With personalized guidance and a supportive community, achieving fitness goals has never been more accessible.
